White Planked Desk Makeover
Does anyone else feel like the vortex of end-of-summer (i.e. I am my children’s only entertainment) and getting-ready-for-school (i.e. a million and one errands to run, forms to fill out, and open houses to attend) is sucking the days, hours, and minutes away? A fact that is in NO way relevant to the amazing makeover I have to share with you today… but one that is very relevant to the length of this post tonight. Due to said time-sucking vortex in which I am now living, you will be getting mostly my beautiful “after” pics of my faux planked desk makeover tonight. The tutorial, alas, will have to wait. But get excited because it. is. unreal.
Remember how this corner looked before?
Was the desk terrible? Nope. But it was only a plywood desktop with pine trim that my father and I made years ago when I left for college (isn’t the base beautiful?!?! I love having a father who can build anything!!). And I love how big the desktop is, especially for craft projects that I need to spread out… but it’s not a good size or shape for my downstairs office. This corner of the attic, though, is perfect.
But here in my beautiful whitewashed attic, it needed a new look; I thought a white planked desk would be perfect. I contemplated building a new top for it, then decided that was too much work and money. So I got out my little saw one day and went to work…
But you’ll have to wait for all those details. For now, enjoy these pictures of my little craft corner, and wait with bated breath for the full tutorial coming soon. 😉
Oh, and be sure to laugh at my impromptu modeling session… My son was helping me take pictures and he wanted me to use the desk for the pictures. How can you argue with logic like that? 🙂
UPDATE: You can find the full tutorial for this desk here.
