Christmas Home Tour: Part 2

A Christmas Home Tour: Gorgeous, simple Christmas decorations with greenery, sparkly touches, and a winter woodland theme.

I spent last Thursday afternoon at Target with a friend and our 5 children – including a one year old who had missed her nap and four very energetic boys. The trip involved spending lots of money, knocking over a few displays, repeating the phrase, “please don’t run into people” about 437 times, and lots of apologies to other customers. But do you know what?

It was a beautiful trip…

Not because it was perfect (or anything less than utterly exhausting and at times a bit humiliating) but because we spent the entire trip helping our little ones pick out gifts for other children – children who wouldn’t have gifts this year otherwise.

As I shared in my first part of my Christmas home tour last week, this season is about so much more than fancy decorations, expensive gifts, or holiday home tours… But I know that when I look at the beautiful homes of other bloggers, I begin comparing and stressing and worrying that mine is not good enough. I want to encourage you today even before you read on that that’s a total lie – for me and for you. I do love a beautiful home, and I love to decorate in such a way to remind myself and my family of the hope and joy of this special season. But those things don’t live in picture-perfect trees or gorgeous tablescapes. They live in a heart of love and giving. With that said, I hope you enjoy (and maybe are a little inspired) by touring the rest of our decorated home today, but more than that, I hope you are  encouraged to celebrate the hope of Christmas rather than the hype.

And if you start thinking of my home as too “perfect,” just think of me in all my no-makeup-over-exhausted-mommy glory at Target last week… 😉

Now on to the tour! Last week’s tour shared our front porch, our living room, and our family room. Today, we are going to turn left inside the front door instead and visit the dining room. Our diy boot box is still working hard.

And the cedar garland (tutorial coming later this week – it’s SO easy!) gives the stairs a festive look.

I kept it simple in here (we had 30 people to dinner on Friday night, so we needed space to move around!)…

With just some green wreaths and neutral textures.

I used my diy burlap table runner, this bowl from Birch Lane, some clippings from my yard, and these beautiful mercury glass ornaments from Wayfair for my centerpiece. You may have seen this last week when I shared some ideas for super easy Christmas decorating.

I had fun adding some holiday touches to the china cabinet.

I ordered these birch bark sheets for another project, and I had extra that I just stuck in behind the bottom shelf of china – I love the texture it added.

A few clippings from my yard, some pinecones, and some more mercury glass ornaments, and I was finished.

On the opposite wall is my great grandmother’s buffet. It’s so much darker than the rest of my furniture, but I love the contrast. I topped it with fun, light, textured objects and even brought my Weary World Rejoices sign in here.

Though the doorway to the left is the kitchen. I haven’t even shown you all my beautiful new island that Mr. Pax gave me for my birthday (or what I did with the previous island that was in here), but we kept it all simple for Christmas.

The mason jar luminaries made a reappearance…

And more cedar wreaths add just a touch of festivity behind our kitchen table.

And that, my friends – other than our recently renovated half bath – is our downstairs. I have just one more room to show you, though, so let’s head up the stairs, past the angel wings

And into the master bedroom.

I am a little obsessed with Christmas lights (you can see my full night time tour from last year here if you’re interested). So I have always loved bringing a few into our master bedroom each year.

So some trees and garland from Target’s dollar spot are twinkling atop our empire dresser.

And hang the gorgeous Joy to the World print by Jolie Marche that I shared on Instagram recently (which I essentially mounted over another piece of art using red and white baker’s twine – it’s my new favorite way to change out wall art!).

I ordered a couple of these Turkish towels not too long ago, thinking they would be pretty in the guest bath, but I’m finding myself using them everywhere. I love them in here, and I took them out to the back porch for our Christmas party last weekend so guests could snuggle up with some hot chocolate. They are so versatile!
