See homes all light up at night with Christmas lights in this special Christmas candlelight home tour!
When I sat down to write this post, I made the mistake of singing (to the tune of “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” naturally) “It’s my most favorite post of the year…” And now I can’t stop!
But seriously, this is my very favorite post of the year. There are few things as soothing and peaceful as a home all lit up by Christmas lights.
Even better, I am joined in this annual post by some very talented friends who are capturing their own magical Christmas lights! If you’re visiting from Julie Blanner, welcome. Be sure to check out all the posts at the bottom.
Candlelight Home Tour
Each night during the holiday season, I try to snuggle with my kiddos on that couch beside the tree: reading a book, hearing about their day, or simply being together.
It’s our space to pray for others, to read the Christmas story, to talk about the things that matter.
It’s our favorite place for those six weeks or so each year when the lights and tree are up.
Twinkle Lights Everywhere
But our living room is not the only space lit up by Christmas lights.
Our entire downstairs is aglow, and I’m not complaining.
Christmas Candlelight Dinner Party
It has become a tradition for my girls to dress up with me and take pictures for these candlelight tours while my husband takes the boys somewhere. It started when they were tiny… and I’ve loved every progression as they’ve grown.
So this year we set a magical holiday table.
Complete with “Grandnana’s” china and crystal paired with some casual, everyday linens and dishes.
The sheer wonder and enjoyment on their faces at the twinkle lights and candles never ceases to warm my heart.
This year, we toasted the evening…
Laughed at some stellar 7-year-old jokes…
And simply relished this special time together.
I’ve been pondering how special time with loved ones can be. It never ceases to amaze me how even my most introverted of my four children positively treasures these special moments…
And it reminds me of the beauty of this season. It’s more than just fun family time.
More than laughter and love and togetherness.
It’s Emmanuel – God with us.
We were made to enjoy and treasure these connections. And I do pray that your time with loved ones would be rich and full and fun. But even more than that, I pray you would experience the togetherness of God with us.
And that you would enjoy the peace and joy that comes from that.
