When I shared my DIY eucalyptus wreath a few months ago, I received almost as many comments about the mirror it rested on as I did about the wreath itself. And I know why… The antique window shape, the panes, the crisp white, the hint of bronze peeking through at the worn edges.
And the best part? 1 coat of paint. 1 wet rag. 1 gorgeous finish.
I started with this beautiful mirror.* The shape was perfect, but the finish was a bit too heavy for my space. It had a textured, bronze look that just wasn’t right in my home. But one good coat of Country Chic Paint in Simplicity covered the dark bronze, texture and all.
Fortunately, Country Chic Paint adheres even to a shiny, gilded finish. Even better, it doesn’t take extensive effort to distress it. A damp rag rubbed along the edges took off just the right amount of paint. UPDATE: Due to a fabulous reader question (you guys keep me on my toes!), I thought I’d share when I use the damp rag. I let the paint dry to the touch (usually about 1-2 hours), but do not let it cure completely. If you wait longer, it will still distress, but it will take more elbow grease for sure.
And I’m loving it in my foyer now. A simple, clean slate for the new year…
What could you transform with one easy coat of Simplicity?
