5 Minute Refresh for Worn-out Wood
Today I thought I’d share a quick tip with you all. I don’t know about y’all, but it seems like quick projects are all I can find time for right now!
Do you have any wood frames or furniture that look a little tired? Unfortunately, I forgot to take a before picture (I hate that!), but this little wooden stool that my son uses to reach the sink has been dripped on one a million too many times. The wood was definitely looking a little dry and sad, almost white in places. I’ve recently seen lots of hemp oil and other specialty products being used to refresh wood, but I wanted to give it a facelift without spending any extra money. So to freshen it up, I used two products I keep under my sink with my cleaning supplies: lemon oil and paste wax. Even if you don’t keep the products, they can be found at most grocery stores – no need to order or even visit a home improvement store.
Just a little lemon oil on a paper towel rubbed into the wood and a couple minutes to dry. Here it is after just the lemon oil (trust me, it made a huge difference!)
Then a scoop of wax on a paper towel. Rub it into the wood in a circular motion and leave it a couple more minutes to dry.
Buff it (i.e. rub it firmly in a circular pattern) with an old t-shirt to remove the wipe streaks and to give it a little shine.
All done! 5 minutes and a beautifully refreshed piece. Ready for the kids’ bathroom:
Or, with its little facelift, it could even grace the powder room:
