Today is one of those days that catches my heart in my throat.  A day when I feel all the feels about this job of mine and all the friends – like you! – that I get to connect with along the way.  So please grab a real, hot cup of coffee (or your beverage of choice) and join me for a virtual, cozy chat curled up by the fireplace.

Today is the second annual Fall Into Home tour, where I have a handful of super talented bloggers joining me to share their cozy homes all decorated for fall.  I cannot wait to share them all with you (links at the bottom) and to show you our home.  I even put away the plastic shopping cart and paper airplanes in honor of your visit. 😉

I couldn’t quite bring myself to deck the halls fully for fall yet as it’s been over 90° every day still (ugh), and I haven’t found much other than bright orange pumpkins for sale yet in these parts (and orange is simply not my thing)…  But it gave me an excuse to stick to my neutral-loving style and simply make small adjustments to bring the house from “light and airy” (my goal in our summer home tour) to “cozy.”  First stop: entryway.

I found this beautiful succulent when I was shopping for my pumpkin succulent planters a few weeks ago, and I added it to my teak vase.  I love enjoying the beauty of practical accessories like rain boots and scarves.  The candle lantern may be a little less practical, but no less beautiful, right?

Speaking of my succulent pumpkins, I am loving the subtle nod to fall they offer in our dining room.

Combined with these gorgeous solid wood candlesticks, I’ve got a lovely, elegant dining table that didn’t even get in our way when we did our homeschooling in there last week.  Tip: think beyond traditional table runners; use scraps of fabric or old scarves to add a warm, textured layer to your table setting.

Looking for easy fall decorating ideas? Check out this autumn home tour full of DIY, creative, yet simple fall decor! The living room and family room are a subtle transition from summer. Tip: add cozy throws and "winter whites" (off whites or creams) with lots of texture for a light, airy, yet cozy feel. Just what I needed for our 90+° fall. ;) Our fireplace is just days away from a major renovation (see details on our plans here), so I confess that I didn't want to go to a ton of trouble. My super versatile basket (that has been everywhere from above the master bed to the tufted ottoman in the family room) is just the right amount of texture in the space. A tiny chalk painted pumpkin helps remind me of the season. Another favorite tip: decorate with consumables. Apples are my kids' bedtime snack, so we go through at least 10/week... this way I have a pretty, fall-feeling space and I haven't spent a cent extra than I would otherwise. If you saw my fall printable last week, then you've already seen the other side of our see-through fireplace, but here it is again just in case you missed it (the printable is free, so go download it here!). And that's our downstairs! Come back later this week for some glimpses of changes upstairs, but for now, refill that cup of coffee and go visit some other beautiful homes decorated for fall.

This room is going to change a lot when the fireplace renovation happens, but until then, I’m enjoying the simplicity.
