Being the only daughter in a large family, I’ve always had more men than women on my Christmas gift list. And honestly, I think guys can be hard to shop for! So I’m always looking for less-conventional holiday gift ideas for both men and women because my list of men to shop for is long and my mom has already been given every necklace and scarf known to man. 😉
I jest… sort of. The reality is, though, that unexpected yet useful gifts are really the best kind, don’t you think? And today I’m excited to share with you some fabulous holiday gift ideas: a marriage of home + tech gift ideas makes them perfect for everyone on your list. And you have just enough time to order them before Christmas!

Smart Home Gift Ideas
Smart Bulbs
It may seem a bit silly to give light bulbs as a gift, but I think the Philips Color and Tunable White Dimmable Smart Wi-Fi Wiz Connected bulbs (as well as these A19 size) would make great stocking stuffers and they are the perfect entry into smart home products because they’re so easy to use!
Just screw in the smart light bulbs and download the free app and you’re well on your way to so many fun lighting options (my kids love the full-color party options, while I prefer the programmable whites, naturally). I also personally love the voice commands (through my Alexa) so I can turn them on when I come in with my hands full.
Robotic Vacuums
My mother has sworn by her Roomba’s ability to help her survive Irish Setter shedding for years. And this model can even connect to your wi fi and be controlled via app.
This robotic vacuum, while not wi fi controlled, is even more affordable and has amazing reviews… plus I love the color! So many great options.
Home Assistants
I have had an Amazon Alexa for several years, and I’ve been happy with it. But we recently got the JBL Link Portable smart speaker which is equipped with Google Assistant, and it’s pretty wonderful, too. Voice controlled music makes it easy to enjoy while working.
Plus this wifi and bluetooth speaker is waterproof, so it’s perfect for outdoor entertaining, as well. Once the weather warms up, this will definitely be our poolside companion!
I’m also eyeing this adorable Google Home Nest Mini, which also has Google Assistant.
And if you really want to up the game, this stylish 10 in. Smart Display also has Google Assistant, along with the ability to watch YouTube, hold video calls, and more.
Routers
Speaking of stylish, these little routers not only spread wifi throughout your home, but they are so cute. And they come with Google Assistant, too!
Smart Clock
One more Google Assistant option for you: a smart clock. I’m thinking this could allow me to charge my phone somewhere other than my bedside table (something I’ve always thought would be healthier for me)… but still allow me to send reminders to my phone as things come to my late at night.
Smart Thermostat
I admit, this Google Nest thermostat is on my wish list this year. Not only is the app-controlled feature intriguing, but the energy savings reported with these smart thermostats is super compelling. And really, copper?!?! They also have brass and other standard colors.
Outdoor Security Cameras
Who couldn’t benefit from more peace of mind? After reading tons of reviews, we chose the Eufy 1080p Security Camera System for our ranch house. And they are awesome. You can begin with the starter kit and add on more cameras, if needed.
As you may have seen, I’ve shared a couple of posts with more thoughts on these cameras (and other smart home security): how to set up a smart home security system and how to use them to keep your home safe when you’re away. And with the holidays mere weeks away, I couldn’t help but think that some of these would make wonderful holiday gift ideas!

Great ideas Rachel! I have some of those hard to buy for folks on my list too, so these might come in really useful! Thanks for helping us out! 😉
So glad it was helpful, Barbara!
