Farmhouse Christmas Tablescape Decorating Ideas
Tour our modern farmhouse with holiday decor and get loads of simple farmhouse Christmas tablescape and decorating ideas!
I just found out that I’ll be hosting Thanksgiving dinner out here next week at Little Pax Ranch, so it’s a good thing that my farmhouse Christmas look with magnolia garland and cedar clippings is so wonderfully simple and versatile. 😉
But really, even if I weren’t hosting Thanksgiving out here, there’s something about this little modern farmhouse we remodeled this past year that calls for simple, natural Christmas decor. Don’t you think?
So it seemed the perfect space to share for a farmhouse Christmas tour organized by sweet Sheila from Maison de Cinq. If you’re visiting from Ella Claire & Co., welcome! I’m so happy you’re here.
Farmhouse Christmas
I shared 10 ideas for Christmas decor in your kitchen (that won’t get in your way) a couple of weeks ago. And I’m happy to say that it has continued to feel festive without feeling too busy or claustrophobic as we crowd friends and family into the open living/kitchen/dining here at Little Pax Ranch.

For modern farmhouse holiday decor, I think of several guiding factors (which, admittedly, I made up! Ha!):
- green
- fresh
- simple
- relaxed
Decorating with greenery
It just feels right to use greenery in a warm farmhouse space. Whether fresh or faux, it celebrates the natural elements of farmhouse living.
Using fresh greens
Though I love a good quality faux garland or wreath (like my magnolia leaf garland), I think a modern farmhouse holiday space needs at least a little natural touch. Bonus points if you can clip them for free.
Keeping Farmhouse Christmas decor simple
To me, the beauty of modern farmhouse is the simplicity which allows pieces with memory (like the dining table we refinished as a family) and history (like the antique railcar planks we used for open shelving) to shine. It’s the clean feelings of a simpler time.

And farmhouse Christmas decorating ideas are no different. Keeping it simple allows for small touches (like our mini Christmas trees) to stand out without crowding the space.
Bringing a relaxed feel to holiday decorating
As an extension of the simplicity, I think a certain feeling of relaxation adds the charm and ambiance that a simple farmhouse Christmas requires. Simple Christmas tablescapes and decorating helps make everyone feel welcome and comfortable.
Farmhouse Christmas Tablescape
So I extended all these ideas into the dining room to bring you some Christmas tablescape ideas: more magnolia leaves and pine cones garland draped across the table.

Classic white dishes and gold flatware with cut glasses for drinking.
A few cedar clippings from the property, and a battery-operated string of copper lights adorn our table for the holidays.
All that plus a wreath (which I originally made using faux greenery and floral wire for the barn door on our tiny house). I love how the mix of blues and greens and textures makes a huge statement on the simple white board and batten walls.
I purged the open shelving a bit (removing some blue pottery we had their before for a more neutral color scheme)…
And added some more cedar clippings, and the simple farmhouse Christmas feel was done.
I can’t wait to host Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners at our beloved Little Pax Ranch!
