It’s been almost two decades since my forever Valentine asked me on our first date. And though our date ideas have gotten a wee bit more casual over the years (can anyone say pajamas and couch snuggles?!), my love for him and my kids has only grown. I can’t really think of anything more important to me than loving them well…
And Valentines Day is the just perfect excuse.
As a busy mama, I truly believe that a few intentional and simple, romantic ideas on Valentine’s Day are such a special way to make your spouse and children feel loved.
Simple Valentines Day Ideas for Kids
Valentine Day table decor
I love using my dining room for holiday treats, so I try to set a simple Valentines table setting with flowers and serve a special breakfast for my kids that day.
This easy pink tulip arrangement, paired with my floral patterned china, is a practically effortless Valentine’s Day flower arrangement. Serve it with cute heart shaped french toast for breakfast, or crackers and cheese for an afternoon snack, and celebrate Valentine’s Day around the table with those you love.
Easy Printable Valentines Cards for Kids
Who doesn’t love Paw Patrol & Trolls Valentine’s Day cards from the store?… Me!
I jest (sort of), but I have really enjoyed making unique Valentine’s Day card for my kids’ friends and classmates. These darling printable cards (available for free download!) have great puns perfectly paired with a cute pencil (and yay for candy-free Valentines, amiright?!).

Romantic Table setting for a intimate Dinner
While I love gifting and making the kids feel special, I think it’s important to celebrate your spouse, too! A date night out isn’t always easy to accomplish, but a special home cooked meal, perhaps a favorite steak and potato recipe, followed by a rich dessert, is an easy way to say express your love and set the mood.
And Valentines Day table settings don’t have to be complicated. I originally created this table setting for Easter, but I think it is equally fitting for Valentine’s Day! Using long stemmed pink or red roses would certainly help create an intimate and romantic dinner. (tip: my favorite place for a Valentines bouquet or flowers is Trader Joe’s!)
Romantic Floral Illustrated Valentines Cards
Who remembers the classic song, “Love is a Many Splendored Thing”? I couldn’t resist creating these beautiful watercolor floral art cards, perfect for a spouse, boyfriend, or treasured friend. Available in two different designs, you can download these cards for free and print them where you choose.
Valentines Day Ideas for Everyone
Heart Shaped French Toast
I mentioned it above, but I think it deserves a second… Whether you want to serve your spouse breakfast in bed or your kids an after-school treat, this heart shaped french toast is such a fun twist on a traditional favorite.
An Easy DIY Valentine’s Day Craft & Gift
While I love caring for my husband and kids, the perfect Valentine’s Day gift for mama is to get away and relax! We are currently renovating on our master bath (with the best soaking tub), and I can’t help but think that these DIY rose and lavender bath bombs would be the perfect gift for your mom and friends. Made with simple natural non-toxic ingredients, rose petals, and essential oils, nothing says ‘treat yourself’ like an escape to the spa!
Simply Sweet Desserts
Mini Mixed Berry Lemon Tarts
While chocolate is an amazing treat, I have always been a fan of the tart sweet taste of lemon! After living in Paris for many years, I am fond of beautiful pastries that are both cute and delicious.
These easy mini lemon tarts are both the perfect for Valentine’s Day and easy on your busy schedule! Just three ingredients (seriously!)… Then top with berries or fresh whipped cream when serving for a gorgeous treat.
Stunning Naked Cakes
And naturally, there’s something about a naked cake that just seems appropriate for Valentines Day, don’t you think?
Layer yellow, lemon, or chocolate cake layers with cream cheese or traditional buttercream frosting, and top with beautiful flower blooms or sweet berries for a sophisticated and luxurious dessert!

What a wonderful, sweet post. Your love for family just shines through. I had to smile when I saw the first table setting. Did you notice that the reflection on the cups make them look like a monkey’s face? I know, I know- I am weird-but it did make me grin-I thought they were ‘the kids’ cups’ at first. lol
Have a wonderful Wednesday- Hugs- Diana
The kids really do having special cups (and safer than glass).
I love the Valentines day ideas for the kids – its so nice to do something little and special for them too. And the french toast hearts what a sweet idea – totally going to give that a go. Thanks so much for sharing – Jenelle @ ellecherieblog.com
So glad you enjoyed the post, Jenelle.
I love these simple ideas. Reminds me of when my son and I added construction paper to pencils to make them look like arrows (many years ago).
I did laugh after scrolling down to the picture of the bath bombs. At the top of the post I thought they were giant jaw breakers, which would be a great Valentine’s gift for my teenagers 🙂
I love that it brought back memories, Kellie!
I just love, love, love this post. It feeds our bodies, our and souls! Thank you so much. Happy Valentines Day!
Aww! Thank you!
