Now that those public service announcements are over, on to the task at hand: the butler’s pantry makeover.
Some of you are probably asking what a butler’s pantry even is. If my home weren’t build 75 years ago, I’m not sure I would know either. It’s a fairly loose term given to a space with storage (similar to kitchen cabinets) that are separate from the main kitchen – usually between kitchen and dining room. You know, a place to store glassware and silver and for the butler to wait and serve from… because we all have butlers, right? 😉
Anyway, that’s exactly where mine is – between the dining room and kitchen. A swinging door takes you in, and it allows people from the dining room to see your pretty dishes without staring at the dirty ones in your sink. Not that we ever have dirty dishes in our sink, right ladies?
Now let’s remember how this room started.
Since we often use it as a drink and/or dessert bar, I wanted to maintain a waterproof counter top, so we carried the new granite from the kitchen (all sources at bottom of post) into the butler’s pantry. The biggest change was new door fronts and hardware.
To simplify, we replaced all those double doors (which were a little busy for my taste) with singles. We used simple shaker doors and divided glass front ones for the top. With new hardware and fresh paint, this space feels 75 years newer but still just as classy.
Oh, and no
lady room is complete without jewelry, right? This little crystal pendant gave it the perfect sparkle.
