Affordable Tile Options- Maison de Pax

Who doesn’t love a good “look for less”? While I firmly believe in making the most of your quality and investment in your home, I’m always on the lookout for a good deal when it comes to renovation materials…

And as you can imagine, an upcoming bathroom renovation in our home has me scouring the internet for classic, chic, practical inspiration for our space.

We are planning to makeover the jack ‘n jill bath between our daughter’s room and what will be (if I ever get around to it! 😉 ) the new nursery. When Floor & Decor approached me about renovating a space with them, I couldn’t think of a better plan than to update that space now so that we can enjoy it for years to come with our girls. Plus, it is used for guests when they come stay, too, so having it shipshape and elegant will be wonderful.

Here are the gorgeous, designer baths that have caught my eye lately PLUS affordable tile options to recreate the look in your own home!

Look 1: Classic White

I love the simple look of the double sink and white board and batten. The classic 1″ white hex tile with gray grout provides a perfect, durable flooring for this functional space.

Look 2: Spanish Blue

Growing up in Texas and traveling to Mexico often as a child, I have this soft spot in my heart for Spanish-influenced design. But my neutral and classic loving heart often wars with the bright colors of typical Spanish design. This, though, is simply gorgeous: modern 2″ matte white hex on the floors with a stunning accent of barcelona blue tiles on the walls. Top it off with brass fixtures? And the classic chic look is perfected.

Look 3: Modern Rustic

Simply. Darling. Classic, functional, and neutral… This bath with two little vanities would be so cute as a shared kids’ space! I know many bathrooms don’t have space for two, but you could definitely replicate the look with a wooden vanity, 4×10 white subway on the walls and 1″ black hex on the floors.

Look 4: Navy and Marble

First of all, the navy cabinets are simply stunning, and the way they accent the marble counters and floors is so very elegant. 2″ tumbled carrara hex or 2″ polished carrara hex would both be excellent options as the grout lines provide enough traction to keep a bathroom floor safe whether polished or tumbled. 4×4 white ceramic wall tile finishes off the look in the shower.

Look 5: Classic Black and White

Confession: I love clawfoot tubs. And the color blocking that the black grout with black tile provides in this space is really breathtaking. A basic 6×6 white ceramic on the walls and either 1″ black hex or 2″ matte gray hex could provide such a classic grayscale look. If there’s room for a clawfoot tub, even better.

Look 6: Cottage White

I love how the simple black and white theme is livened up with 3×6 beveled white subway on the walls and a patterned black and white floor. It creates a charming look that is less stark than many black and white spaces.

  1. SO much loveliness in this post! All of the looks are beautiful, but the spanish blue catches my eye the most. I have a small bathroom that is in line for a remodel, and I intend on adding a small amount of patterned tile. With those a little can go a long way!

  2. I’ve been really struggling with flooring options in the farmhouse renovation of our 1890s farmhouse. I love #1, #3 & #5! We’re also planning to add a black claw foot tub and antique sink. I want classic farmhouse style without going too modern and I think hex tile might be the way to go 🙂

    1. I’m so glad this is helpful to you!! I don’t think you can go wrong with any of those looks. 😉

  3. Hi Rachael, I’m so thrilled for you and your family about the news of your upcoming bundle of joy, how exciting !
I love all the options above and am saving them for my (someday) bath reno. They’re all beautiful choices and what a hard choice that would be, but for you…i picture your two little darlings on a stepstool built for two and standing in front of that darling double sink washing their little fingers and giggling like little siblings do. What ever choice you make, I’m sure it will be the perfect perfect one and i can’t wait to see it when you’re all done. Happy Easter dear friend.

    1. You are so sweet, Diena! I can’t wait to show you what we’ve chosen. 🙂 Happy Easter to you, too!!

  4. Lovely inspiration, Rachel. All of the tile options are just so pretty!

Having lived with a main bathroom sink that had no vanity area on it, I would NEVER do it again. A powder room? Maybe. But sometimes even powder rooms have to handle overflow from main bathrooms. The stand alone sinks are pretty and minimal (which I LOVE), but, personally, I will always go with functionality plus beauty . 😉 Especially with two girls (that will grow into two adolescents/teens). *wink again*

Thanks for sharing. ALWAYS love your posts and ideas!

    1. I know what you mean. I’m afraid the darling trough sink is not really an option… but it’s so charming, isn’t it? 🙂

  5. Perfect ideas! I love the wood base sinks. Love the warmness of the wood to these beautiful tile pairings. Where can I find those?! We have been searching and searching and searching..

    1. So glad you like it, Nicole! Unfortunately, I don’t know where those are from. If you follow the link to the source of those images, perhaps you can find more. Sorry I don’t have more info on them. Good luck! 🙂

  6. Rachel, Love your style. Where did you find that gorgeous barcelona blue tile mix?

    Thank you.

Wish you were close to LA.
