Organizing with Trays (and a giveaway!)
As a mother of three under five trying to keep a house “show ready” (since we are moving soon), I am always looking for items that accomplish three goals: keeping us organized, looking lovely, and helping my young children clean up for themselves. And these gorgeous little tin trays from Decor Steals are my new winner in all three categories.
I was excited to be asked to partner with my sweet friend Jamie from So Much Better With Age (I know I’ve shared her a million times before, but go see if you haven’t yet; her vintage French loveliness is just too wonderful to describe!).
We were each sent a pair of these versatile metal trays and asked how we would style them.
Since I just shared my dining room with you all last week, I decided to think outside the box… and I landed inside the foyer.
Springtime here has meant one thing: rain. And since we have regular showings, I need to keep my children out of the house as much as possible. And these rain boots (which we’ve needed for multiple walks) have been in the way for weeks.
All the rest of their little shoes fit on the shelf in the bench, but the boots were too tall. And try as I might, 3 and almost 5 year old boys don’t understand lining them up stylishly at the end of the bench on the floor. But now they know exactly where to put them.
The tray’s not large enough for adult shoes, but it’s perfect for kids’ galoshes.
And I’ve got a smaller tray for mail and keys.
I think they look lovely.
They keep us organized.
And they enable my kids to clean up after themselves.
Best part? They are TODAY’s steal! And though most steals go live at 10am, my readers can have early access to these trays by going here.

Those are wonderful ideas, have you said where you got that bench or did you make it? That is a wonderful piece. I had two boys myself and i know how angelic they are but not as good as my grandsons. lol
Thanks, Marlene. The bench actually came from my grandmother’s back porch. I’m not sure where she got it originally, but I believe it was an indoor bench that she chose to use for holding pots. The result was a fabulous, worn finish! And, of course, I’m sure your grandsons are practically perfect in every way. 😉
Love how you used the trays! They are gorgeous! I’m looking for a tray for my coffee table – and those would be perfect!
So glad you like them, Meg! They are perfect coffee table trays. 🙂 Thanks! xx
Love how you styled yours, Rachel! This is such a fun idea to see it styled in different ways! Off to check out Jamie’s!
Thanks, Jenna. It was so fun to do this challenge with Jamie!
Love this idea! Such a gorgeous tray, too!
Thank you so much, Sarah!
Those are so cute! My children’s boots end up all over the place despite having cubbies for them. Your kids’ rain boots look so cute there, like it was styled that way. Great idea!
Thank you so much, Erin! Keeping up with kids is hard… I say we use whatever little tricks we can find. 😉
