5 Simple Kitchen Styling Ideas
Kitchen styling doesn’t have to be difficult! Get 5 super simple kitchen decor ideas to help your space be both functional and beautiful.
Decorating a kitchen is not quite the same as decorating the rest of a home. I always try to design and decorate for both beauty and function… and styling a kitchen is where that balance is most important.
Too much kitchen counter decor renders the space dysfunctional. While a lack of kitchen styling can leave a space feeling cold and uninviting. It’s a tricky balance… but thankfully, I think it’s pretty easy to strike. So today I’m sharing 5 simple ideas for how to style a kitchen with accessories.
Before I do, though, let me be clear: these are all easy ideas that you could implement TODAY! These are not kitchen design ideas, kitchen renovation ideas, or even mini kitchen remodel tips. These are simply fun ideas for kitchen accessories that will help your space be both functional and beautiful.

Simple Kitchen DECORATING Ideas
Tools MADE OF NATURAL MATERIALS
As I mentioned, finding things that are useful and beautiful is especially important in the kitchen. In other words, form + function = winning. That’s why marble and wooden kitchen tools are my favorites.
From utensils to veggie brushes to salt and pepper shakers, using natural materials allows you to keep some basics in plain sight while adding texture and beauty to your space.

Kitchen Canisters
Speaking of form + function, a good set of kitchen canisters can go a long way. In fact, they are one of my absolute must-have versatile pieces of decor in any home.
Use them to store favorite flours, nuts, or other snacks. Or take off the top and use them as utensil holders. Or simply use them to hide some less sightly tools (like my husband’s plastic scoop he uses for his morning supplements 😉 ).

Serving Dishes
Whether it’s a wall of open shelves or simply a less-accessible corner of your countertops, use that space to store your favorite serving dishes.
This frees up cabinet space and – who knows – maybe it will even entice you to make salads more often when your salad bowl is in reach?? Or does the same apply to Moscow mule mugs? 😉
In that same vein, wooden cutting boards make excellent backdrops to kitchen countertops. Propping them up against the backsplash keeps the counter space clear, adds warmth to the space, and leaves them easily in reach for use.

Vintage Rug
In order to soak up spray and drips from the sink as well as provide a little extra cushion when I’m on my feet in the kitchen all day, rugs are a necessity in my kitchen. Kitchen cabinets, countertops, and appliances are all hard surfaces, so a good rug can bring significant softness, color, and pattern into an otherwise cold room.
Because of that, I especially love the look of a vintage run in the kitchen. You can read all about vintage rugs here and even where I find affordable ones here. Suffice it to say that I love hunting for the perfect, unique rug.
Potted Plants
I think just about every room should be accessorized with some greenery, and the kitchen is no exception. But rather than bringing in cut stems that will die, I love to bring potted plants into the home (and pssst… here are my favorite low maintenance house plants).
Whether it’s growing herbs on your countertop or just adding a little succulent to your kitchen table, potted plants bring the same wonderful signs of life to your kitchen as they do to any other room.

More kitchen ideas:
There are, naturally, so many other ideas to consider for styling your kitchen: wall decor, open shelving, tea towels, and more. But here is my biggest encouragement to you:
Try to find functional things that are also beautiful.
In short, space in the kitchen is limited. It is a workspace, plain and simple. But just because it is a workspace doesn’t mean it has to look like a garage (though, let’s be honest, wouldn’t we all prefer a pretty garage anyway??). Since it is such a workhorse, it’s important that those hardworking things – cabinets, countertops, sinks, appliances, utensils, dishes, coffee makers, cutting boards, step stools, dish towels, and more – be truly functional…
But whose to say they can’t be beautiful, too?
Here’s to hardworking and beautiful kitchens.
Thanks Rachel these are good ideas. Have a wonderful weekend.
Thank you, Diana!
