Fall Decorating: Simple Seasonal Touches in the Kitchen and Master Bedroom

Fall decorating touches don’t have to be dramatic. See how to incorporate a warm, cozy feel in your kitchen and master bedroom with minimal effort.

Fall decorating is my kind of decorating.

We might as well call it “Lazy gal’s decorating.”

My sweet and talented friends April from House by Hoff and Krista from The Happy Housie are once again organizing a group of bloggers to share simple seasonal touches in our homes. And simple is right up my alley.

But today I want to point out some very complex decorating algorithms. Do we eat 12-15 apples per week here at Maison de Pax? Why yes, we do. Let’s put them on the counter and call it decor.

And be sure to bake lots of things, like pumpkin creme brulee and apple tarte tatin

And make lots of coffee with fun flavors.

Add some grocery store eucalyptus and a yummy fresh loaf of bread, and you’re set for the season.

In the master bedroom, I changed out my cotton sheets for linen ones. The sweet people at Saphyr Pure Linen were gracious enough to provide these (and I’m going to be giving away some on Instagram, so be sure to follow me there if you don’t already so you can enter to win!)… They are amazing.

Sometimes I can rearrange or paint an entire room and Mr. Pax might not even notice, but the first night we slept in these, he told me they were “awesome”… and he’s not one given to hyperbole. 😉

The best part about them is that they’re so casually elegant that they are just as pretty when the bed is unmade…

Which it may or may not be most days. 😉  I brought in my gray wool blanket that I made last year to finish off the look.

I added texture to our little seating area I created last spring with a fun new throw pillow…

And a blanket scarf I found in the dollar bin at Target last year, too.

I think all the decorating in these two spaces took me a whopping 15 minutes total. But I can honestly say that it’s just enough. Enough to wrap up and breathe in the anticipation of the colder weather… if it ever makes it to central Texas. 😉

    1. It’s not very big; I think it was supposed to be ~3×5′, but (probably due to my inexperience in knitting), mine is more like 2.5×4.5. It is stretchy, though. I hope this helps!
