Simple Summer Picnic

If there is any time of year that calls for simplicity, it’s summer.

Hot, lazy afternoons…

Light breezes and cool drinks…

Sunburns and recovery…

And – in our home – lots of games and laughter. And maybe little fighting and complaining, too. 😉

Our new home has a big pool and drop off view in the back (which I have been working on and am so excited to share with you all next week!), which makes our front yard our play space. I was originally worried about playing in the front yard, as my children are young, but we live on a quiet street and as you can see, the beds separate the lawn from the road. Nevertheless, I feel much better about their playing in the front yard when I can keep an eye on them. And this little spot is perfect for our picnic blanket.

The lush green grass allows for horseshoes, baseball, soccer, and bocci ball.

And the competition is fierce.

We are joined by friends from time to time…

But with a few pillows…

And some cold drinks, it’s just as fun to be a spectator.

How do you enjoy a simple summer? I’d love to know!
