It’s the most wonderful time of the year…

Really. I love Christmas time. If I could live every day (and night) by twinkly Christmas lights, I would.

If you’re here from the Christmas tour, welcome.

In case you’re new, my name is Rachel, and I live deep in the heart of Texas with my amazing husband, two boys, and baby girl. I feel so very blessed. It may still be a sultry 75° down here, but that doesn’t stop us from some serious Christmas celebration!

We have lived in our 75 year old colonial for about 2 1/2 years, and we’ve been nursing it back to health, if you will, since we moved in. You can see a full before and after tour here if you wish. But for now, come on in!

If you’re a regular, you’ll notice that I’ve rearranged quite a bit and filled our entryway with rustic, simple decor, including my diy eucalyptus wreath and the {embarrassingly easy} Sharpie pillow.

A poinsettia and greenery with white lights finishes it off.

The room where we spend the most time as a family is our living room.

Can you tell how much I like white twinkling lights? And reflective surfaces to multiply them? Seriously, I don’t think I’ve turned on a real light in my house since the day after Thanksgiving… Christmas lights are plenty for me.

In fact, if you like Christmas lights as much as I do, you’ll have to come back the week of Christmas; I’m planning something special: a Christmas Night Light Tour. But for today, decoration inspiration. Like our cuddle chair (that’s what I’ve dubbed it, anyway) with the diy antler pillow.

And our thrift store sweaters turned stockings

Hanging from the diy curtain rod. And topped with my favorite reminder for this season.

I finished everything off with mercury glass accents…

And some beautiful gifts.

The living room opens into the sunroom, which we use as a play room. Naturally, I couldn’t resist a few twinkling lights in here, too. This little tree was decorated entirely by my two year old. Just the perfect touch, isn’t it?

The dining room is where we eat every meal, so I kept it very simple this year.

A little rosemary tree (tutorial coming soon) and some pinecones atop my diy burlap table runner adorn the table.

Seriously, how cute is this little rosemary tree? And it smells soooo good.

I have more details on my dining room to share soon… plus, I decked the hall the library, too. Here’s a little sneak peek:

  3. oh my goodness, rachel. i just want to come over and look at everything in person! SO GORGEOUS! and i love the genius way you made the stockings from sweaters and hung them on a curtain rod. i am in awe of all the gorgeous gorgeous photos you got with kids running around. 🙂

    1. You are so sweet, Jen! And, of course, you’re welcome to come any time. 😉 Oh, and don’t be fooled… it definitely took at least 4 or 5 photo sessions to capture all these, and some of the presents may or may not have been eaten by the baby in the meantime. Ha!

  4. Everything is looking great and any info you can provide on rosemary trees would be appreciated. I love them and some how I manage to kill them every year.

    1. Thank you, Diana! I’m actually posting more about the rosemary trees later this week. Number 1 think I’ve learned so far: they need a lot of light. I’ve already moved mine around to give them a little more sunshine. 🙂

  11. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous my friend! I agree, I could live with twinkly Christmas lights all year… or at least all winter. I think I absorb them in lieu of sunlight since I don’t see that for months at a time:) Pinned and shared on my FB page!

    1. Thanks so much, Krista! I sometimes forget that advantage of our warm winters… at least we have light!

  40. SO jealous! Ive lived inEurope and have visited Paris a dozen times but never at Christmas. I am always looking for French ideas and to find this from someone who actually lived there is the real McCoy! Thanks for sharing! I will be incorporating some of your ideas into my decorating in our new, stateside home.

    1. Paris is pretty wonderful at Christmas time, Gail. I hope you get to go sometime!! So glad you like the ideas, and I hope you enjoy infusing a little French into your Christmas this year. 🙂
