Simple Spring Dining Room Decorating Ideas

This French farmhouse inspired dining room is all set for spring; try these simple spring decorating ideas to get your space ready in no time.

___________

Life is rarely simple.

Case in point: I finally got a lot of photographs taken for some upcoming projects and found time to sit down to edit them all…

and I managed to promptly spill a huge glass of water on my computer.

Life happens. And as I prepare for baby #4 in May, I feel more and more a desire to simplify my surroundings so that they don’t compete with the things that really matter.

Which made Seasonal Simplicity – this fun tour today hosted by my sweet friends Krista from The Happy Housie and April from House by Hoff – just about the most perfect opportunity for me.

I wanted to share my dining room with you all today because it’s not a simple space. We use it for family dinners about once a week; it is art project central, and it is our homeschooling room. You can read all about how we make this multi-purpose room work for us here if you’re interested.

It is also literally right off the front door, so this mama prefers to have it somewhat presentable when at all possible… Which means keeping decor to a minimum. Dining room view with cascading stairs- Maison de Pax

This spring I simply grabbed a few $2 succulents from Trader Joe’s (which came in these darling little aged pots) and made a super simple centerpiece that still leaves us plenty of space to spread out our coloring and school books.

I moved my fiddle leaf fig over to the window because she was looking a little droopy…

Purged the bar cart of excess and brought out just a couple of blue/green glass jugs and a basket.

And I brought out my straw hat that is a must when sitting outside with the kids on these sunny afternoons.

I put away some of the mercury glass and other fancy accents that were still out from the holidays; I wanted a relaxed, earthy, botanical vibe…

And while it doesn’t change the chaos of dinners in the car on the way home from baseball… nor does it mute the incessant chatter of my two year old (who currently has no volume control whatsoever 😉 ), it does help me to feel a little calmer and remind me of the simple beauty of new life we can enjoy in this season.
