Copper Rolling Pin (DIY Copper Tutorial)
Love the copper look but not the price? This easy diy copper tutorial shows you how to get the copper look on kitchen accessories (or anything, really!) for a tiny fraction of the price.

I just love when projects spontaneously arise.
Don’t get me wrong, I love planning, too. I am definitely a planner (Mr. Pax can attest 😉 ), but there’s something so refreshing about an impulsive project that can make you smile as much as this.
When I was photographing the kitchen for last week’s spring home tour, I wanted a touch of copper on the counter to complement my copper pitcher in this image.
So I pulled out an old rolling pin (super cheap, basic, wooden rolling pin that I was given when we were married) and in about 2.5 minutes, it was transformed into this.

The secret? Rub ‘n Buff in Autumn Gold. I ordered it from Amazon a few weeks ago in preparation for another project, but I hadn’t even opened the package yet. It was even more perfect than I imagined.
The wooden handles were finished with some kind of high-gloss poly or varnish, so I simply roughed them up with a sanding sponge and then spread the Rub ‘n Buff on thickly with a paper towel.
And now this rolling pin is just as functional and a million times more charming, both as a kitchen accent…
And as an actual tool.
Now to control my incredible urge to copper-ify everything… You may have seen the clipboard I used for my free spring printable last week.
Really, nothing is safe. 😉
Get your Autumn Gold Rub ‘n Buff and tell me what you want to copper-ify!
Oh, I like the copper handles! Very nice!
I know what you mean about finding a new technique and then using it on everything! When you find something good, it’s hard to stop! 🙂
Thanks, Randi! And yes, glad I’m not alone on that. 😉
Such a great idea! Haven’t used my Rub N Buff in a while, so now I am itching to get it out! Thanks for sharing!
Yay! Hope you have fun with it, Holly. 🙂
I love it! I see “copperfying” in my future!
Haha. So glad you like it! xo
Isn’t Rub and Buff the best? What a great way to add a little copper touch. Very pretty! It makes me want to bake something…or at least stop by the bakery and then just display my rolling pin. 🙂
Nancy
Haha… Yes! I love it. A trip to the bakery it is. 😉
I so love using Rub ‘n Buff….I have not used the Autumn Gold yet, and cannot wait to turn something into copper!…Love the rolling pin!
Thanks, Shirley! It’s so so fun, isn’t it?!
That was an amazing inspiration. Who would have thunk!
Thanks, Jan!
Beautiful! Do you have to seal the handles to keep it from rubbing off? Thanks for the inspiration!
Thanks, Deb! I haven’t had any trouble with rub ‘n buff coming off of any project I’ve used it on… But certainly if you did have a surface where it was giving you trouble, clear sealer would be a great option! 🙂
I LOVE Rub n buff!! Use it on furniture, accessories, well, just about anything that needs a little zhushing up!
Haha… me too! 😉
Love this idea! Maybe I’ll make some gifts using your tutorial. Do you know if the cutting board is also available?
Thank you so much! I found the cutting board at my local grocery store, but I *think* this is the exact same one available on Amazon (affiliate link): http://amzn.to/2oU1sso Hope this helps!
Very fun! A bit late on commenting on this. Just got back from FL (vacation visiting the fam!) I’m excited to hear about your trip to Mag Market!
Thanks, Julie!! xo
