Bring Some Spring Inside

I’ve been working on a little nook that overlooks the stairwell, but I’ve decided that will have to wait until next week. Today, I can’t resist sharing the touch of spring that graced our path when I went outside to cut orange blossoms from our tree to put in the nook on the little metal side table.

If you’ve never smelled an orange blossom, go find one.

They’re heavenly… My entire upstairs hallway smells sweet and fresh (which, honestly, is impressive given that I have two little boys who live here!).

But even better, the smell is gentle enough not to make this pregnant mama sick… It’s a perfect balance. And knowing that it came straight from my backyard makes me a little giddy.

Now those of you who know about gardening, don’t judge my tree which, yes, is sporting both oranges and orange blossoms… The oranges are too bitter for anything other than marmalade anyway, so we decided not to kill ourselves trying to get every last one. And for those of us who don’t know any better, pretend I didn’t say anything and just enjoy the view. 😉

The bees certainly do…

How can you resist these delicate white flowers?

And, truly, who would want to? Even if you don’t have access to orange blossoms, grab a jar and some greenery and bring a little spring into your home.

And hopefully, a little peace might come along with it.

How beautiful those blossoms are! The last time I checked (a few hours ago!) it was snowing outside my window here in Toronto. Your beautiful orange blossoms would make a great subject for my paintings.
