Thanksgiving is officially over, and I am now no longer the crazy woman who has three fully assembled Christmas trees in her home.

Ok, maybe I’m still crazy (these are, after all, mostly empty boxes that I wrapped with this gorgeous paper)…

And I do still have three trees in my home (can’t wait to show you the other one soon!).

Ok, scrap the comment entirely. Let’s just focus on the fact that my decorating is fully finished and I’m ready to enjoy the holidays, mkay? 😉

If you saw my holiday gift guide for her, then you saw a sneak peek of this tree. As I mentioned then, this has been the year of blush and copper and other soft, slightly feminine things. It’s only appropriate since we welcomed my youngest daughter into the world this summer (and if you see her nursery, you’ll see what I mean).

But I do have three boys living in this house, too. I wasn’t looking for over-the-top girly, just a slight nod to girly. So I replaced our usual 9-ft green tree (you can see how I decorated it last year here) with this simple flocked one. I added a few stems of white puffs, some of my favorite garland, and a random assortment of coppery, silvery, blush-ish (technical terms, all, of course) ornaments to the tree.

Or, rather, I let my kids add them. The beauty is, when you have a nice, full flocked tree as your base and enough garland and stems as fillers, the ornaments can kind of go anywhere and still look lovely. I actually really like the irregularity of their placement. A little lopsided never hurt anyone, right?

And we had fun making “doubles” and “triples” and even “quadruples” by hooking multiple ornaments together with wire.

It was a sweet day: hubby was traveling, and all four kids and I loaded up the car, found the tree and the ornaments, and brought it (and approximately 2.5 pounds of extra glitter from all the various Christmas things we touched at the store) home. I’d say it was a raging success of an afternoon.

What do you think? Would you put blush on a big tree in your home or might the males revolt at the idea? I can get away with just about anything by telling them it’s in honor of their baby sister. Works every time. 😉

Pin it for later inspiration!

  1. I absolutely LOVE your tree!! It looks a lot like mine. Blush is so beautiful, isn’t it??! My home is full of it right now. Your house is lovely too!

  2. A pretty, pretty tree! For the past few years I have decorated my little faux Christmas tree with only white or silver ornaments. But I am really attracted to the blush color which I’d like to add to the white and silver. However, I am having trouble finding ornaments in that lovely color. Can you give me any suggestions about where to buy them? Particular stores or on-line? I’d so like to hang some on the tree this year.
