Where to Find Affordable Tile, Stone, and Wood

Where to buy affordable tile, stone, and wood is not only tricky but essential to a beautiful, budget-conscious renovation. Find out where to go for your next project!

_____________

I regularly get questions from readers about how I manage to get so much done: blogging, renovating, homeschooling, etc. So today I’ve got not one but two things to share with you: where to find affordable tile, stone, and wood… and a little glimpse into my own special kind of crazy. 😉

Do you remember the kitchen renovation we just completed? I knew I wanted a real marble backsplash, but as always, I wanted to do so affordably. And I knew exactly where to look: Floor & Decor. They have a huge variety of tile, stone, and wood products at incredible prices. And while I am thrilled to be working with Floor & Decor this year, let me be clear, I was not working with Floor & Decor at the time nor was the kitchen sponsored by them. I was just thrilled to find real honed carrara marble for our backsplash at approximately 40% less than I found elsewhere.

Two-toned gray and white cabinets, marble subway tile, Carrara countertops, a big farmhouse sink, and brass hardware give this kitchen a classic yet modern look.

So when Floor & Decor asked if I would like to partner this year on a project, I was thrilled. And remember that homeschooling detail? I decided to make a morning of my visit and bring along the whole crew. Warning: ninja moves and sticking out your tongue is apparently the only way to take pictures when you are between 2 and 6 years old.

Affordable tile options:
We explored the tile section of the store, and while I’m pretty sure my two year old had no idea about the difference between glass and ceramic tiles, she knew her mommy loved white, like these gorgeous beveled subway tiles.

We also found some incredible wood-look tile. How perfect would this be for a bathroom or mudroom? And the patterned ceramic tiles would be a perfect budget-friendly option for that popular concrete tile look.

Affordable stone options:
Having just upgraded our kitchen counters from ceramic tiles to a stone slab, my kids were fascinated to see so many other colors and options of granite, quartz, and marble.

And you know my favorite… the gray and white marble aisle. 😉  How can you go wrong with beautiful natural stone like this? And we can’t forget the honed marble that I used in my kitchen.

Affordable wood options:
Finding the right wood flooring can be hard, but Floor & Decor has so many options: engineered wood, solid hardwoods, laminates, and more. I just loved some of the rustic, wide-plank options they had like these antique oak engineered floors and these snow walnut engineered floors.

But the plank flooring isn’t everything. They also have all the accessory pieces you need to complete the whole project: trim, quarter round, and more.

And if you’re looking for wood accents elsewhere in your home, their wood countertops are an excellent option.

Our store visit:
As you can see, it was anything but dull when the kids and I visited the store, but the employees were so kind and accommodating. The in-store designer asked how he could help and showed me a few options for the ideas I had rolling around in my head. There is even a designated area to put materials together and visualize your project.

Floor & Decor was kind enough to schedule a formal store tour for me later (which I opted not to bring the children to 😉 ), but I love the fact that my first visit with all three kids in tow was not scheduled and my local store had no idea I was a blogger planning to work with them. They were still so helpful – answering my questions, helping me find products, and allowing me to show my kids all the different materials. The free in-store design help was perfect. And I can’t wait to show you soon our next renovation project we are cooking up!

Locate your local Floor & Decor with their store locator, and tell me what projects you have in mind!

  1. LOVE seeing pics of your younguns! They are adorable! Shopping is a great way to homeschool, too. Teaches all kinds of life lessons along the way. 🙂 I’m looking forward to helping my daughter when she gets started (I miss doing homeschooling.) Thanks for sharing your suggestions, too.

  2. Your kitchen is gorgeous!! So glad to know where everything came from! Never heard of this place so I can’t wait to check it out. We redid our kitchen cabinets last year and now I’m ready to replace the countertops!!

  3. I love your kitchen and am so in love with those cuties you have, I know they are a handful but what a joy to watch. What’s next I am ready.

  4. HI there,

I love love love all of the above:). I am using the honed Carrera marble for countertops and struggling with my kitchen faucet. I am using aged brass/german bronze for hardware and hoped to find a complementing faucet with hot water dispenser to match. That is proving to be more difficult than I thought, well on a budget I should say. I love your mixed metals and your choice of faucet and it’s other options. Would you mind sharing the brand and style of your faucet?

    1. Thank you, Jenn! Are you talking about the kitchen faucets in this kitchen? If so, they are from Moen. And I know what you mean about finding matching hot water dispensers… it’s tough! Stainless or matte black seem to have the most options that I’ve found. I also wrote this post about mixing metals in case that’s helpful. Good luck!
