Creating a Spring Vignette
I was reminded on instagram today that not everyone is actually enjoying spring weather right now… but everyone can bring a little spring into her home.
There’s no perfect formula for creating something artistic, obviously, but I thought I would share a few elements I try to incorporate into a spring vignette… in case anyone needs a little inspiration (don’t we all sometimes?!?).
I do think, though, that a little analysis can sometimes help. If you are one of those people who get frustrated by over-analysis, just look at the pictures from now on. 🙂 If you like a little metacognitive decorating, then read on, my friend…
I love these little spheres (on clearance at Hobby Lobby) because I think the shape echoes the earth – perfect for the season when it comes alive.
And the dark, texture of the antique books reminds me of rich, churned earth.
These mason jars in a straight, simple line offer the consistency of spring – new life comes, even when it seems hard to grasp.
The light, neutral colors offer the promise of longer days…
And the gilded frame reflects the sunshine.
Obviously, the rich, green foliage contrasts the soft neutrals, offering the strength and beauty of spring.
So see if this helps next time: geometric elements, a neutral backdrop to offer emphasis on the rich green foliage, a touch of gold… What are your go-to elements for a spring vignette?
Hi Rachel,
Your Spring vignette is lovely. I love to incorporate gifts from nature in my decor, so your greenery mixed in with the brown books are spot on for Spring.
Thanks for the inspiration,
Suzanne

Thank you so much, Suzanne! I’m so glad you like it. 🙂 And I love how you said that, “gifts from nature” – the perfect mindset!
Very pretty! I love the thought that goes into a vignette. So fun! I found you at the DIY Dreamer.

Thank you so much, Karin!! So glad you like it. 🙂
Simple and beautiful! Mason jars always add an extra something I think!
They do provide that special touch, don’t they? I’m so glad you like it, Jen. Thanks!!
What a lovely spring vignette! I am working on painting mason jars myself right now. My spring mantel is all done up with bunnies, eggs, birds and a torn rag garland. Visiting from the Love of Family & Home blog hop. Have a great day! ~ Jamie
That sounds wonderful, Jamie! I’m so glad you came by, and I hope you enjoy your painted mason jars as much as I have! 🙂
This looks Sassy Rachel! Awesome idea 😉

Thank you so much, Pauline! I’m so glad you like it. 🙂
So pretty! I love bringing a little spring inside with some indoor bulbs and plants.
Thank you, Shannon! Live plants make all the difference, don’t they? 🙂
Beautiful! What brand and colors did you use for this project? I love the darkest of all 3 mason jars, kind of a gray blue?
Thanks!
Thank you! It’s been a few years, but I think it was Country Chic paint. The gray ones I think are pebble beach, and I am guessing the white is their Simplicity. I hope this helps!
