Mr. Pax can’t resist teasing me at times for my repurposing. I admit that from time to time I get a little
ridiculous creative in my quest for “just the right thing.” This may or may not have been one of those times…
I actually spotted this fabulous pair of airplanes in Roundtop (a huge antiques fair in a tiny Texas town). The best part? It was yard decoration. Seriously. They had a metal spike you stuck into the ground, with a tiny flat surface on which the ball in between the two airplanes balanced so that the airplanes could fly in circles with the wind. Pretty genius, actually.
But I couldn’t resist the rustic finish with the fun but-not-overly-primary colors for my son’s room. Aren’t they scrumptious?
What little boy could resist dreaming of adventures when watching these float above his head?
And what vintage-decor-loving mom could resist giving him that opportunity? 😉 Not me… So I found a stud, secured a little white hook to the ceiling, and used some strong jute twine to hang the airplanes.
Don’t worry, I’ve kept the metal spike in case my yard gets jealous some day.
I originally simply hung them in a corner of the room for Little Pax to look at (he was already out of a crib by that time), but since my boys recently started sharing a room (more to come on their combined room soon!), we simply rolled Littler Pax’s crib (my very own FREE Restoration Hardware knock off) right under those little flyers. And he adores them.
