{Mostly} Neutral Fall Mantel
I’m loving the recent trends of any-colored fall decor. Though I have nothing personal against oranges, reds, and yellows, they don’t really complement my interior colors very well… So I decided this year to go with the colors that make me happiest. And thus was born my {mostly} neutral fall mantel.
I decided to play off the warm grays already in the room, with a hint of blue (which is also already in the room).
Two great things about this mantel:
- I didn’t buy anything new. Nothing. It was a combination of painting decor I already had, making some book-page pumpkins from old books, and gathering things from around the house.
- My three-year-old helped. Really. We painted pumpkins together and had a blast!
You can see the “FALL” blocks (enter the GIVEAWAY to win your own set here – ends soon!) that I shared last week.
And my black and white Paris photography (which I love for its classic style), along with the very cool book-page pumpkins (there’s a great tutorial here from Upcycled Treasures if you’re interested).
In all, I’m really pleased with it. Would I prefer a mantel without a television hung above? Sure. But with the layout of our room, that’s the only place for Mr. TV, so I’m working with it… I think that’s why the black candles and picture frame go so well – it makes the black tv look a bit less out of place (or so I tell myself!).
What do you think? Is anyone else enjoying using non-traditional colors for fall decor?
