Christmas Kitchen
This post is brought to you by utter, total, and complete relief… after two and a half months of plastic, construction, take out, and dust, I’m thrilled to share with you our new, classic yet modern kitchen all decked out for Christmas.
This is officially one of those obnoxious squealing with glee kind of moments for me (if I did that sort of annoying thing – which of course, I never would 😉 ). I’m so pleased to share with you my Christmas kitchen today along with some other amazing bloggers as a part of the Deck the Halls Christmas Home Tours hosted by Jennifer of Decor Gold Designs and Randi of Randi Garrett Design.
If you are visiting from Thistlewood Farms, I’m so pleased to have you here. I first met Karianne several years ago when I brought my 6-week-old daughter to a blogging conference; Kari was quick to fawn over the baby – a sure way into a mom’s heart. But I’m here today to talk about kitchens…
I am sharing a few sources at the bottom of the post, but for my regular readers (and anyone else interested!), I promise full before and afters as well as source lists and tutorials after the holidays… For now we are just going to enjoy the beauty of this finished space.
It’s a far cry from our first kitchen as a married couple. We were renting a tiny little 2-bedroom bungalow, and we discovered after we moved in that the dishwasher was actually not connected to any water lines. You had to roll it into the middle of the kitchen and screw a hose onto the sink faucet in order to use it…
But I painted the space a fun brick red and hand washed a lot of dishes. 😉 We certainly have sweet memories from that little house.
Our next kitchen was an original 1954 ranch style home… And I mean original. No dishwasher, no disposal, black and white ceramic checkerboard tile countertops, knotty pine cabinets, and – of course – no less than four doors to shut it off completely from the rest of the house.
Since that was our first home to own, we enjoyed the space (aka opened all the doors and bleached the countertop grout) while we saved money to remodel… At which point we promptly knocked out a wall, rearranged, added white cabinets, and installed granite countertops.
And I realized my calling as a serial home remodeler.
I jest. Sort of.
Our next home (if you don’t count our apartment in Paris that we lived in for two years) was a 75-year-old colonial: grand, elegant, and in desperate need of love.
Let’s just say that not only were the countertops covered with broken pink floor tiles, but we lived with a 4’x8′ hole in our kitchen ceiling…
for. six. months.
Now that might have more to say about us than about the home itself, but we’re going to gloss over that part. 😉 In the end, we finally created a beautiful white kitchen (you can see the final project here if you’re interested) and put the home on the market 3 days later to move here…
To another kitchen with tile countertops. Now there is nothing wrong with tile countertops… I just happen to know one of my own weaknesses: though I am neat, I am not always clean. And when I begin to think about the dirt collecting in those grout lines due to my poorly inadequate housekeeping… Well, I try not to think about it. Which brings us to kitchen remodel #3:
And here I am documenting my official determination not to move away until we have enjoyed this new kitchen for at least a year. Wish me luck. 😉
I hope you enjoyed seeing our new kitchen space and the small holiday touches we’ve added to it.
If you follow me on Instagram (and if you don’t, you can do so here!), you may have seen the gingerbread decorating party I had with my three little ones. It’s moments like those that make a pretty space truly beautiful.
I hope your home is filled with beautiful moments this holiday season, as well. Be sure to visit my sweet friend Lucy next at Craftberry Bush. Her heart and home are equally lovely, and I know you won’t be disappointed. And you can visit all the other bloggers sharing their homes this week below.

I hope this helps!
Just stumbled upon this BEAUTIFUL kitchen – and I’m in search of similar backsplash tile. Do you mind sharing where you sourced yours?
I’m so glad you like it! You can get all the sources for our kitchen here. I hope this helps!
I am in love with your kitchen!! I understand you got your backsplash in Mexico. How similar are the Carrara marble tiles to yours?. Thank you!!!
Thank you! I actually did not get my backsplash tile in Mexico; my parents did that in the home I grew up in. 🙂 I purchased mine from Floor and Decor; it was their honed carrara marble. I hope this helps!
The most beautiful kitchen ever. I am currently remodeling my kitchen as well could you please tell me the color of the bottom cabinets that is a perfect grey for me. Again so beautiful.
You are so kind. Thank you! The lower cabinets are KraftMaid’s Greyloft. You can find out more about the kitchen here. I hope this helps!
The tile is to die for ❣ I’ve been trying to find it . There are tiles that are close but compared to yours they don’t come even close . I was wondering what they they are called, who makes it and most I’m importantly where can I buy it?
I select most of my tiles from Floor & Decor. They are Carrara marble and I know they have lots of options.
