I shared my best tips for creating a fancy, elegant Thanksgiving table last week, but I know that lots of families prefer simple and casual. Heck, we’ve even eaten Thanksgiving dinner off of paper plates in the past… When there are 40 people in the house and half of them are under the age of 10, you get creative. 😉

Today’s post is perfect for creating that simple, easy, yet thoughtful atmosphere. These little leaves feature six sentiments perfect for Thanksgiving: thankful, grateful, blessed, fall, harvest, family. With the free printable below, you can simply cut them out and display them however you like. Consider tying them to pumpkin stems, clipping them to string to create a banner, or simply sticking them in a bowl of pinecones like I did.

The other leaves read, “I am thankful for…” You can print out a ton and use them as an activity before or during dinner. You can create a thankful tree like I did last year if you like. You can even just write your family’s names on them and use them as place cards if you want. So many possibilities. 🙂

  1. Hi Rachel l’ve been following your blog for some years and love your style! I hope you don’t mind but I have a question about thanksgiving, I’m an Australian and as you probably know we don’t celebrate thanksgiving but this year we are, ☺️ our nefew is married to lovely young girl from Arizona they have just moved here and are hosting a family thanksgiving celebration. They don’t want anyone to bring anything but I feel I need to bring something. Is there anything you could think of that I could bring whether food (she did say there would be plenty) or some traditional item or not so traditional item? I’m really at a loss to think what. Hope you don’t mind my question and please don’t feel obligated to come up with anything I know your busy with a young family. Keep up the great work

    1. You are so cute, Robyn! I don’t mind the question at all. Unfortunately, at least in my family, Thanksgiving really is all about the food. We always divide up the dishes, and we cover all the traditional ones: turkey, gravy, potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, pumpkin pie… and everyone brings one. If she wants to do all the food, though, then any sweet hostess gift I’m sure would be appreciated. We also get much more direct about our gratitude this day, so a sweet note telling her how thankful you are that she is hosting this or that she is part of the family would probably be greatly appreciated. I hope this helps in some way! Oh, and I’m thankful for readers like you. 😉

      1. Thank you so much for your time Rachel, I’ll have a lookout for a gift and a thank you note on appropriate paper maybe. We’re looking forward to the night, enjoy your day with your lovely family. Love and prayers for the coming Christmas season and New Year.
