Blue and White Fall Decor in the Master Bedroom
Autumn decor doesn’t have to be all oranges and reds; see how to create a soft, romantic space with blue and white fall decor!
________________
Having just passed a birthday, I’m feeling particularly self-aware. Over the years, I’ve learned that I simply cannot eat oatmeal (it makes me gag no matter how many delicious toppings I put on it), I need at least 7.5 hours of sleep to feel human, a good historical fiction novel keeps me entertained for hours… And I simply prefer neutrals and blues to other colors in my home. It’s a fact of life for me.
And then fall rolls around and I sometimes try to fight it – to force myself to incorporate those traditional fall colors…. But this year I decided simply to embrace what I love and capitalize on the blues and neutrals in decorating my master bedroom for this blogger home tour that my sweet friend Janet from ShabbyFufu organized along with Soft Surroundings and Romantic Homes magazine.
If you saw my downstairs home tour earlier this week (visit it here if you’d like), you know that I prioritized textured neutrals: natural materials and warm whites, especially…
And I carried that same look upstairs with white pumpkins, hydrangeas, and clippings from my yard.
I also am enjoying the sign I made last fall (tutorial here if you’re interested… or a free printable of the verse here); it’s actually a sentiment I’ve enjoyed having up year round, but it becomes especially poignant in the fall.

But, as I said, I also capitalized on the beautiful blues of my rescued antique dresser and my tufted ottoman.
I made this luxurious buffalo check throw blanket to add even more blue to the space and give our all-white bedding some cozy color.
And I brought in this large basket for a little more blue and texture.
But the grandest new addition to our bedroom is my gorgeous new mirror, which I purchased with a gift card generously provided by Soft Surroundings for this tour. I struggled to decide where it should go in my home… You might just see it elsewhere later; it looks beautiful in so many spots!
For now, I love how the substantial size yet subtle finish of the gray-washed wood contrasts with our darker four poster bed.
The convex mirror is a fun element for a rather shallow room. Plus, you know how I feel about light and bright spaces; mirrors are always a good addition!
I’ve said before that decorating your home like you dress is incredibly efficient. You tend to wear clothes that complement your coloring, and filling your home with those same colors can only be a good thing, right? Plus, as a bonus, I find it allows me to use accessories like scarves (which we only get to wear for about 6 days/year down here in central Texas!) as home decor…
And in case you’re new here, you’ll learn quickly that I’m a big fan of efficiency. 😉
I hope you enjoyed this little fall tour! A big thanks to Soft Surroundings and Romantic Homes magazine for their involvement. I’ve included a source list below for your convenience, and there are also 12 other gorgeous home tours for your viewing pleasure. Happy fall!

Rachel, your bedroom is so warm and inviting, yet at the same time, so streamlined and peaceful! What a lovely space to relax in and start or wind down your day… 🙂 I love the way the wood mirror works in your space and I’m also a huge fan of the blues. But my absolute favorite photo is the one of the brilliant squat white pumpkin on the vintage wooden piece. Is that a sewing machine? Gorgeous shot in every way!!
You are so kind, Lory. Thank you!! Yes, it is a sewing machine, and it belonged to my husband’s grandmother… Isn’t it special?! 🙂
Loved your tour! Your home is beautiful and so interesting to look at with all the perfect blend of neautrals and texture with added shades of blue. I find myself leaning towards this color palette as well. Beautiful and relaxing looking home!
Thank you so much, Sandy!
I love your use of blue and white for Fall! I actually dislike the color orange (except I will decorate with orange pumpkins outside), so finding other color palettes for Fall is always a wonderful discovery. Your house looks wonderful. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much, Angelina!
Your photography skills really highlight your lovely bedroom, Rachel. Thanks for sharing!
You are so sweet, Cynthia, thank you!!
So soft and pretty, Rachel! I’m loving blue for fall too!
