Rustic Chic Half Bath

Remember when we moved into this house over the summer and I declared I was going to make over this half bath from start to finish before I got distracted by other projects in our new home?

Ha ha…

I may not have followed through exactly as planned, but it’s still the same calendar year, and I’m pleased to say that I would call this space finished.

Let’s remember where we started so we can relish how far we’ve come.

I think the challenge in here (and my favorite part) is balancing the high and the low. The perfect gold mirror inspired by my years in Paris…

And the rustic, old-school iron hooks and rustic, warm wood.

I think the black and white split photo art blends those two styles together somewhat.

Thankfully, the wainscoting was already there (remember when I painted it all?), and the plumbing was in great shape. I even like the faucet that was there.

But I replaced the light with this one from Lamps Plus. When I saw this light in my friend Rachel’s master bath, I knew it was the perfect light for this space.

I selfishly stole our gorgeous organic cotton rug for my master bath (guilty!), and I really loved how this little rug from Ikea brought a little blue into the room. Unfortunately, it was a little small for the space, so I just sewed two together.

And that’s it. As the only downstairs bathroom, it’s a hard working room. And though it’s not pool season, we are a little hot tub obsessed, so it’s still getting used as a changing room, too. And I think it’s doing its job perfectly.

It merges my love of rustic wood tones, glamorous French style, and mixed metals. It’s got my whites and grays and a touch of blue. It’s awesome… if I may say so myself. 😉

What do you think? What’s your favorite part?
