The Solution for Everything

This post is sponsored by Behr. All opinions are, of course, 100% my own.

I shared earlier this week that I don’t have it all together.

Not even close.

But I am pleased to share today that while I may excel in inadequacy, at least I have it all figured out.

The solution to everything?

Paint it white.

Ok, maybe it’s not the solution to everything, but it sure has become my go-to solution for my home.

It worked for the old magazine holder.

Our fireplace.

My kids’ homework table

And my master bedroom.

I’m not sure what to put on the walls, or whether or not to hang curtains, or if I want to paint our bedside tables, or if I can survive without a ceiling fan (because boy would a chandelier be beautiful in here!)…

But I do know this. I’ve found the perfect white paint.

Behr Marquee in Cameo White is now my favorite. I used it above the wainscoting in my half bath, but it was such a small space that I failed to realize just how wonderful it was until I painted this room. It’s a lovely white – a tad gray, I think – that looks warm against blues and cooler whites but cool against creams.

Even better is the incredible coverage. Our home was a yellowish cream (you can see the full before tour here if you like) everywhere. Walls, ceilings, floors… And while I had the downstairs and two-story entry painted before we moved in, I decided to save money by painting the upstairs myself.

Consequence? I have a lot of ceilings to paint. And I started by painting this ceiling with a cheap flat white ceiling paint I had on hand. It covered as I would expect; two coats (plus a third touch up in a few spots) were needed. Then I painted the walls with the Marquee Cameo White.

It was glorious.

One coat. Not a single extra touch up. And since I was covering the exact same paint on the ceiling and walls, I got a true side-by-side comparison of the Marquee paint versus a basic flat latex paint. I don’t think I can ever go back.

In fact, there are quite a few more walls in my upstairs that have Cameo White written all over them. 😉

  1. My favorite white is Simply White by Benjamin Moore, I use the Natura product a lot. No odor. I love Behr paints but we don’t have a Home Depot close by (the downside to living in a small, small town) so I get the Ben Moore at our local Ace Hardware. I will have to give Behr’s cameo white a whirl and see how it works for me.

    1. I have heard so many good things about Simply White, though I’ve never used it myself. And I understand convenience… even in a city there are places I refuse to drive because it’s too far! 🙂

  2. Lovely space. I am searching for that perfect white to paint my entire house. Love white walls!! One question though, do you paint the trim and base boards the same shade?

    1. Thank you! I kept the trim the original color. In this house it is a true extra white, straight off the shelf. In our last house, though, the trim was a much creamier yellow color, so I had to choose a warmer white for our walls (I used Aesthetic White by Sherwin Williams) to complement it. I hope this helps!

  3. My family laughs at me all the time, because my mantra is “paint it white”. Now, if we’re shopping together (meaning my sister and/or my mom), I can just say, “You know what…” They immediately say, “Paint it white!” >.<
