Christmas Mason Jar Luminaries
Decorate your home this holiday season with these simple Christmas mason jar luminaries. Such an easy, charming touch to your holiday home!
Irony: a state of affairs that seems deliberately contrary to what one would expect.
I love it. Irony, that is. And not just because I’m a former English teacher… because it’s like a little surprise, just waiting to entertain you. And that’s how I felt – thoroughly entertained – when I was playing with these mason jar luminaries that are simply perfect for the holidays.

I won’t bore you with instructions for this diy Christmas decor. You can see what I did. The baker’s twine came from Target’s dollar spot (like this here), and the greenery was trimmed from a swag (no one will ever notice the missing corner, right? 😉 ). These flameless tea lights are useful for busy moms who might forget to blow out the mason jar candles.
I will direct you to my painting mason jars tutorial, if you’re interested. You can see that here.
But where lies the irony?
I have found a central use for these little canning jars in my decor every season this year: spring, summer…
except fall.
And no, it’s not because I was busy using them all fall in my kitchen to make jam.
I’m not sure why I find these trendy little jars so adorable, but I do. And after I put them together, I realized that they worked in almost every room of my house…
Adding their warm little glow…
So I kept moving them around. And I couldn’t resist taking pictures for you; hopefully at least one of these ideas will inspire you. They would make a wonderful mason jar gift, too!
And then you can come back next week for my full tour to see where this little diy holiday decor ended up. 🙂
Where would you put them?

They are so cute Rachel, I love the classic Christmas colors! I’d probably use them as part of a centerpiece on the coffee table in my bonus room… Maybe inside the opening of a wreath laid flat.
Thank you, Cindy. That sounds lovely!
Love the mason jars Rachel and the many ways you are using them for the holidays…
Thank you so much, Shirley! I’m so glad you like them. 🙂
Love these. I have six small children, so I was wondering whether you have real candles inside or battery operated ones? Would both work? Thanks for sharing.
Great question, Kim! I have little battery operated LED candles… because my three little ones make real ones a safety hazard, too. 🙂
what type of paint did you use….one specifically for glass, flat???????
thanks
Actually, I used chalk paint. You can get the full tutorial here. I hope this helps!
Inspiring variety of ideas to use these Mason jars. Thanks for all the pictures & tips.
So glad you like them!
These are super adorable. How did you get the greenery attached to the twine?
Thank you!
Thank you! I just tied the twine around the stem. 🙂
LOL. That sounds easy enough 🙂
Thanks!
