Personalized Apron (and adorable chef costume!)

It’s dangerous…. that aisle.

You know the one.

It has cute stuff. For cheap.

And you just can’t resist.

You justify.

You plan wonderful projects in your mind.

You cave.

Yeah, that aisle.

Well, friends, today’s post is brought to you by that aisle… where adorable, affordable little aprons meet my paint brush and become the world’s cutest Halloween costume for less than $8.

Yup. My two boys are set for this year because that aisle had chef’s hats for $3.

And that aisle had child-sized aprons for $4.

And I had a computer, a printer, a paintbrush, and a little Country Chic Paint.

I used Country Chic Paint to paint some pillow covers to look like grain sacks several months ago, and the paint has not only lasted beautifully, but the pillow covers are completely washable. I’ve been so pleased with how the paint works on fabric, that I thought it would be perfect for this little project, especially because I know I’ll need to wash these from time to time!

To personalize the apron, I simply made a logo (using Microsoft Word) with fonts that I liked and printed it out. I then pinned the paper behind the apron and traced the letters with a very fine paintbrush.

And voila.

Give the kid a little rolling pin, and he’s ready to take on the world.

Or, if you have boys, give him a giant rolling pin and he’ll be ready to take on his brother. 😉

And do you know what I really love about this? Not only was it inexpensive, easy, and adorable… It will bring hours and hours of fun for my children. The kind of fun that involves candy and holidays, yes,  but more importantly, the kind of fun that involves creativity, imagination, cooking in the kitchen with mom – making cookies and memories.

Come to think of it, I may need one… It’s a good thing that aisle has adult sized aprons, too.

Oh, and that aisle happens to be located at Hobby Lobby.
