Fall Home Tour: Part 1
Fall… crisp breezes, cooler temperatures, cozy nights beside the fireplace…
Unless, of course, you live in my part of Texas, where we just pretend to have fall. 😉
But pretend I do. And I’m excited to join more than 35 other bloggers to give you a glimpse of our fall homes…
So if you’re visiting through the fall home tours, welcome. I hope you’ll pretend it’s fall with me (and pretend you don’t see my kids’ fingerprints all over the mirrored dresser! 😉 )
I hope you’ll sit and stay a while.
We may not have the fire blazing for you…
(Trust me, you don’t want a fire when it’s 90 degrees outside! Seriously, we visited the pool twice this past weekend.) But we can cozy up and chat anyway.
This year, I made a conscious effort to go a bit warmer and cozier in my fall home. Summer was all about light, simple, and bright (you can see the tour here if you’d like), but fall is about comfort.
I started with some rustic elements in the entryway.
This beautiful quote by William Cullen Bryant on my diy chalkboard.
My fall blocks from last year.
And my rain boots and milk can.
I love the mixture of neutral textures along with potted plants (for more ideas on where to put plants indoors, see here).
I also added some touches to the library.
I few little pumpkins make me smile when I snuggle in my chair each morning to drink my coffee and read.
And my sheet music fall art on the mantel continues the textured neutrals from the entryway.
The living room is really the hub of our home.
And my four year old helped me decide where all our pumpkins should go, including our new diy velvet pumpkins.
My favorite was when he told me that he had to move one of mine because it did not “look pretty.” When I looked sad in response, he quickly replied, “It looks very pretty, Mom, but not too pretty.”
Whew! I was definitely worried about things being too pretty. 😉
If you’re one of my regulars, you may have noticed that I changed out my art again. I love the black and white scenes for fall and winter.
As a side note, if you are looking for some gorgeous, seasonal photography, be sure to check out the Boutique for stunning, affordable images. With high-resolution options, you can create big-impact wall art for a great price.
So what do you think?
Did I manage to capture a cozy, neutral, happy space?
Did you find some fall decor ideas you can use? Do tell! Enjoy those cooler breezes and warmer colors this fall… and be sure to come back later for part 2 of our fall home. I could only bring myself to pretend so far; maybe in two weeks it will actually feel like fall. 😉
Your house looks amazing and yes you captured the pretty side of fall with neutral colors. I laughed when I first started reading your post because my post today is about pretending it’s fall. We are in the Dallas area and it was super hot all weekend. 🙂
Thank you so much for your sweet comment, Stacey! I’m glad I’m not the only pretender around here. 😉 Here’s hoping we get a little real fall around here soon!
Absolutely love your home! And no worries about the fingerprints 🙂 If someone saw my living room right now they would see dozens of puppy toys sprawled everywhere!
Oh thank you, Nicole! And I’m so glad to know I’m not alone. 😉 Have a very happy fall!
So…I would love to move right in. Everything looks SO pretty, despite what anyone else says! 😉 Thanks so much for joining in the tour!
Ariean
Haha… What does a 4 year old know anyway? 😉 Thanks so much, Ariean!!

Your home is absolutely lovely! You captured fall beautifully, I would never ever guess it’s “pretend fall” where you live 😉
You are so kind, Nina! Since we barely have two seasons here, I get pretty good at pretending. 😉
Just lovely! The chalkboard is fantastic…thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much, Becki! So glad you like it. 🙂

I love that you used so many light, neutral colors in your fall decorating. Fall decor can feel so dark sometimes, I love your touch on it!

Mandy @ The Hankful House Blog
You are so kind, Mandy. Thank you!!
Your home is so very cozy and welcoming. Thank you for showing it off for fall even if you had to crank up the AC to get in the mood.
While I love everything you have put together I would love to find the gold acorn if you remember where you found it. Thanks so much!
Haha – the AC is blasting still, Janet! 😉 And thank you for your kind comment. The gold acorn was on clearance at Hobby Lobby at the end of fall last year. I have no idea if they have them again this year, but I hope you’re able to find one!
Thanks!
I have a lot of mercury silver fall pumpkin decorations and I would just love the gold accent of the acorn. There is a Hobby Lobby store opening not too far from my home so I now have a valid reason to make a trip!
Yay! I do hope you find one there!!
Simply gorgeous. Love the colors and all of the fall touches. So pretty.
Thank you so much, Leslie! So glad you like it. 🙂
WHAT DO I THINK? I think I adore it. You have such great taste, Rachel! I adore all of your arm chairs and that cow hide rug… yum. 🙂
Jen, you’re so kind!! Thank you so much. And, for the record, I love your use of food words to describe decor – I totally do that! 😉
Beautiful tour, Rachel! Your photography is stunning…you are a genius with the styling! Love that mirror leaning against the wall behind the red chair…gorgeous!
Oh April, you just made my day! Thank you so very very much. You want to know a confession? I leaned it there when I took it off my mantel, and I liked it there, so it stayed. Laziness breeds genius sometimes. 😉
Your home is so beautiful! Great tour!
Thank you so much, Katie!
Beautiful home! I love the large logs in the fireplace.

Beautiful home, thank you for inviting us in for the tour! I found you at the DIY Dreamer linky. 🙂 May I ask where you got your beautiful red and grey wingback chairs?? I’ve been hunting for some, and I LOVE those!!
Thank you so much, Megan! I’m so glad you came by. 🙂 The gray chairs are from Restoration Hardware (the Lorraine chair in duck fabric), and the red one was my recent craigslist find. Hope this helps!
